Sorbents for cleaning the stomach. Absorbents for cleansing the body, preparations, tablets

Sorbents for cleansing the body. There has been a lot of talk about sorbents lately. This topic has become relevant due to the fact that a healthy lifestyle has become the main trend. Now it is fashionable not only to play sports, but also to cleanse your body. Sorbents are drugs on a synthetic or natural basis that can absorb toxic and harmful compounds and remove them naturally through the digestive tract. They are used to treat food and chemical poisoning, allergic reactions, to maintain the functioning of the liver, gastrointestinal tract, and kidneys. Pectins and fiber contained in fruits and vegetables have similar properties, but they are not able to cope with severe poisoning. What is a sorbent, every person who is at least a little interested in a healthy lifestyle knows. Pharmaceutical preparations like activated carbon, as well as food products, can act as sorbents.

What are sorbents

So many modern people, regardless of their gender, age and profession, suffer from the most various diseases. Violations in the human body can be the result of such factors as improperly organized nutrition, poor environmental conditions, a sedentary lifestyle, and much more.

Often people do not resist such harmful influences, and this is not entirely correct. The way out is quite simple: you just need to do a cleansing of the body, and this must be done on a regular basis.

And the most effective helpers in solving these problems will be sorbents, which can be used not only to remove toxins from the body, but also to stimulate digestion.

Scientific studies have shown that sorbents are able to cleanse the liver and kidneys, and significantly lower cholesterol levels in the body. And in the event that you have dysfunction of the gastrointestinal tract or you are prone to allergic reactions, it is almost impossible to overestimate their benefits.

The first major study positive impact sorbent substances described in his work well-known to all, the healer of antiquity, Avicenna. In modern medical practice, the problem of cleansing the body began to be dealt with relatively recently, and natural sorbents to cleanse the body everywhere began to apply in the 30s of the last century.

Sorbents for cleansing the body. And before, the experiments of many scientists were able to prove in practice the unambiguous benefits of these funds in terms of getting rid of the waste products of the body, which can also occur due to diseases and harmful substances. At the same time, along with positive qualities, sorbents had a number of side effects, due to which their usefulness for cleansing the body was called into question.

The experiments of many scientists were able to prove in practice the unequivocal benefits of these funds in terms of getting rid of the waste products of the body.

Therefore, specialists who studied the effect of sorbents on the human body worked simultaneously in two directions: some sought to perfect the purification technique, while others worked to create drugs that were most harmless to humans. This work was carried out by domestic and foreign scientists.

The latter managed to create such sorbents, in which the negative impact on the body was minimized, but at the same time their ability to cleanse organs, tissues and cells from toxins accumulating in them was significantly reduced due to the use of a special protective film.

Sorbents for cleansing the body. The latest sorbents developed in recent years are truly unique, as they are excellent at cleansing the body and are very convenient to use, and in addition they also have a number of protective qualities.

Due to their properties, modern sorbents improve the course of many diseases, and also protect the body from the penetration of various toxic substances that enter the human body along with food and drinks.

Pharmacy counters are replete with a wide variety of sorbent preparations approved by leading medical scientific centers, but at the same time, the scheme of their use should be developed in each individual case.

What about sorbents?

Enterosorbents - what is it and how to take them? Sorbents are produced in the form of tablets, powder, granules, pastes, capsules. What form of release to choose from the list of sorbents will be discussed later in the article.

Antisorbents must be used:

  1. After intestinal poisoning;
  2. Ingestion of heavy metals, poisons, alcohol toxins;
  3. With an overdose of drugs;
  4. With "breaking" after drug withdrawal;
  5. Allergic diseases;
  6. Alcohol poisoning;
  7. kidney failure;
  8. In case of poisoning due to the activity of helminths;
  9. Impaired liver function;
  10. Overeating.

Sorbents are used both as monopreparations and in combination with other drugs in complex therapy. Sorbents are also used as prophylaxis, for example, to prevent the development of cardiac ischemia.

Characteristics of sorbents

Sorbents for cleansing the body. In medical practice, for oral administration, substances from the class of enterosorbents are used, which act in the lumen of the intestine and other organs of the digestive tract.

Enterosorbents have a diverse structure, bind various substances that have entered the body from the outside or formed as a result of vital activity, and have a toxic effect.

The drugs are used, as a rule, as part of complex treatment in the presence of severe pathologies.

Enterosorbents contain as active ingredient chemicals of various structures, therefore, they bind toxins by adsorption, absorption, ion exchange or complex formation. Today, successful methods have been developed for the treatment of many pathologies using these substances.

All sorbents used in medical practice have two properties that predetermine the indications for use, as well as the strength of the chemical.

Any sorbent is characterized by the following properties:

  • sorption capacity: this is the amount of substance that the sorbent is able to bind per unit of its mass;
  • the ability to sorb a wide variety of chemical structures of various sizes and masses (for example, the ability to sorb both whole bacteria and alcohol molecules).

Sorbents for cleansing the body. In medical practice, it is the ability of a substance to sorb diverse chemical and biological structures that may be in the human gastrointestinal tract that is of greater importance. In other words, for a medical sorbent, the non-selectivity of its sorption capacity is important, but the ability to absorb everything in a row.

To date, enterosorbents are divided according to the form of release into granules (all types of coal), powder (Carbolen, Cholestyramine, Povidone), tablets, paste and food active additives (pectins and chitin).

Other properties of sorbents determine their predominant use in the treatment of a particular pathological or functional condition. Typically, these properties are distinguished by manufacturers and are taken into account when choosing a specific sorbent.

In addition to the basic properties inherent in absolutely all preparations, sorbents have the following characteristics: toxicity; biological compatibility with body tissues; the degree of traumatization by the sorbent of the tissues of the mucous membranes of the organs of the gastrointestinal tract.

Comparison of sorbents. Which sorbent is better

Sorbents for cleansing the body. Doctors prescribe some of them to treat allergies, relieve intoxication during a cold, and during a period of toxic treatment. Knowledgeable people drink sorbents from a hangover and the removal of toxins when working in hazardous industries. There are many sorbents, they look and cost differently: powders, tablets, gels costing from 15 to 700 rubles.

Powder:(compared to fellow gels and tablets) - the most preferred form of sorbent for fast action immediately after entering the stomach.

Activated charcoal and its modern analogues

The substance is obtained from wood and coal, it has the lowest sorption capacity of 5 mg per gram.

Advantages: very cheap, based on the price of one package.
Due to the low sorption capacity (read = efficiency), for the treatment of one adult weighing 80 kg, it is necessary to take 70-80 tablets per day, and the course of treatment averages 10-14 days. It is inconvenient for adults and children to swallow tablets both whole and in crushed form.
Disadvantages: desorption - the reverse release of previously collected harmful substances and their absorption in the gastrointestinal tract. When used for more than 7 days, the gastrointestinal tract may experience: heartburn, pain in the lower abdomen, belching, nausea, flatulence.

"Enterosorbents are medicines that are able to bind and remove from the body substances of external (allergens, microorganisms) and internal origin (toxins of viruses) from the gastrointestinal tract."

Enterosorbents based on lignin

Sorbents for cleansing the body. They are made from chemically treated wood that has succumbed to the decomposition process. Enterosorbents based on lignin (wood) with lactulose. Lactulose is a synthetic milk sugar chemical used as a laxative.

Disadvantages: low sorption capacity - 18 mg / g, which means a low indicator of efficiency in cleansing the body of toxic substances. By appearance, shape, taste and shortcomings similar to activated carbon.
Advantages: the positioning of drugs is based on the lactulose included in the supplement as an element for the normalization of digestion.

Enterosorbents-smectites

Based on healing clay.

Advantages: a large number of expensive foreign clinical research, large promotion budget, preferred powdered form.
Disadvantages: sorption capacity is below average - 100 mg/g. Accordingly, the effectiveness as a sorbent for removing toxicity and eliminating harmful substances is insufficient.

The largest sorption capacity - the greatest efficiency.

But there is a big difference within the group:

  • methylsilicic acid hydrogel - a popular synthetic sorbent in the form of a gel or paste;
  • colloidal silicon dioxide - a white powder for dilution in water, acts quickly immediately after entering the gastrointestinal tract;
  • The enterosorbent hydrogel has, in comparison with sorbents based on coal and wood, a larger sorption capacity - 150 mg / g (however, it is cunning, because the active substance in the preparation is only 70%, respectively, the actual sorption capacity of the preparation is about 105 mg / g).

Advantages: a large number of studies. Convenient tube with paste for transportation.
Disadvantages: freezes in winter and on the plane during transportation, after which it is forbidden to use it. Contains preservatives.

Optimal choice of sorbent

Each type of poisoning requires its own form of sorbent. So, to bind toxic substances in the stomach most suitable preparations in the form of a powder. For quick bowel cleansing sorbents in granules are necessary.

Charcoal preparations are ideal for eliminate the effects of allergies, as well as with poisoning. However, coals have a limited effect, so these sorbents are more suitable to eliminate poisoning, which cannot be said about lingins.

Lingin preparations such as Lingosorb, Liferan, Polyphepan, well get rid of alcohol intoxication. The peculiarity of the use of sorbents with lingin is that it is necessary to empty the intestines within a couple of hours after ingestion, otherwise alcohol toxins will begin to be absorbed into the blood.

Sorbents for allergies

Sorbents for cleansing the body. Therapy of allergic reactions in children and adults (diathesis, itching, etc.) using sorbents should begin in the first hours after the first signs and symptoms appear. They must be taken 1.5 - 2 hours before meals.

Reception of sorbents and other medicinal antiallergic preparations is spaced for 2-3 hours. For the treatment of allergies, the dose of drugs is calculated according to the child's body weight - 0.2 - 1 g per 1 kg of weight. The resulting value is daily dose, which is evenly divided into 3-4 doses during the day.

The duration of the course of allergy treatment is 6 - 8 days, but if necessary, it can be increased up to 2 weeks. The last two days of taking sorbents, the dose must be progressively reduced, bringing it to half of the initial dose.

With the development of a severe allergic reaction, which is accompanied by uncontrollable itching, redness and flaking of the skin, loading doses of sorbents can be used to quickly relieve these painful symptoms and stop the aggravation of the condition. The shock dose is also calculated by body weight - 2 g of sorbent per 1 kg of weight.

Prophylactic use of these drugs is a way to prevent the recurrence of an allergic reaction, and helps to lengthen the time to remission. So, for the prevention of allergies, sorbents are taken within 7-10 days, in the morning or in the evening, 2 hours after dinner. The dosage of the drug for prophylactic administration is calculated according to the body weight of a person - 0.2 - 0.5 g per 1 kg of weight.

The duration of taking the sorbent in loading doses should not exceed 2-3 days, after which it is necessary to switch to the use of the drug in the usual therapeutic doses. Sorbents can be used in people prone to allergic reactions as a prophylactic to prevent their development.

Such preventive courses for people suffering from allergic pathologies should take place once a month, during the first three months after a relapse. Then the prophylactic course is carried out once every three months.

The total duration of prophylactic courses of therapy is one year from the moment of relapse. In general, the frequency of taking sorbents in allergy sufferers may fluctuate, since it depends on the condition of the person, the severity of the pathology and concomitant diseases.

Sorbents for poisoning

Sorbents for cleansing the body. Most often in everyday life, people are faced with food and alcohol poisoning, which are usually treated at home, without resorting to the help of specialists. For alcohol or food poisoning, you can use any sorbent that is at hand. All sorbents are interchangeable, so if a person used, for example,

Polyphepan, but it is over, and there is Enterosgel - then you can use it fearlessly. At food poisoning these drugs are taken until there is no stool for 12 hours, and with alcohol intoxication - until the symptoms disappear.

The order of application of sorbents, the most effective in food poisoning and alcohol intoxication:

  • activated carbon: diluted in a glass of clean water, and this talker is drunk. The dosage is calculated as follows - 20-30 g per time for an adult, and 10-20 g for a child (0.5 g per 1 kg of body weight) 3-4 times a day;
  • enterodez, Polividon, Enterosorb: taken by adults 5 g (1 package), children 2.5 g (half a package) 1-3 times a day. The contents of the sachet are dissolved in half a glass of water immediately before taking, and drunk;
  • polyphepan and entegnin: also dissolve in water. Adults put 1 tablespoon in 1 glass of water (200 ml), and children - 1 teaspoon in 3 tablespoons of water (50 ml). The resulting solution is drunk in small sips, 3-4 times a day. 4. Enterosgel is diluted in water, at the rate of 1 tablespoon of gel per 2 tablespoons of water. The suspension is prepared immediately before use, and taken 3 times a day.

Highly reactive carbon mixture is the best sorbent

Sorbents for cleansing the body. A highly reactive carbon mixture (HRCM) is a homogeneous carbon mass consisting of graphenes bound by van der Waals forces - flat elements of a graphite structure, graphite packets, as well as products of their chaotic coalescence.

HRMS is an environmentally friendly substance containing carbon nanostructures with a huge specific surface area (about 2000 m² per 1 gram of substance). As a result, when wetted, HRCM forms a mass with a huge hydraulic resistance, which is much higher than, say, activated carbon.

In this mass, as in a very densely woven network, even the smallest suspensions are "entangled" (purely mechanically). This means that the HRMS mass, several centimeters thick, works not only as a sorbent, retaining impurities with the help of unsaturated interatomic carbon bonds, but also as a filter, mechanically retaining even the smallest impurities and suspensions.

The HRCM filter works similarly to household membrane filters, only much better! The fact is that membranes retain impurities only in one plane or several planes, while HRCM holds them by volume.

To clog a membrane or a system of membranes with small and tiny impurities, it is enough to pass through them a volume of water that is several orders of magnitude smaller than to clog a volumetric HRCM filter.

Sorbents for cleansing the body. With a single filtration of drinking water, turbidity is reduced by 25-60 times, the amount of suspended particles by 10-30 times is achieved high degree removal of sulfates, sulfides, fluorides, chlorides, nitrites, ammonium nitrogen, iron, zinc, copper, aluminum, manganese, lead, molybdenum, free chlorine.

HRCM has another unique property: after passing the solution through the HRCM layer 10-15 cm thick, such an important indicator as biological oxygen demand (BOD) is halved.

HRMS purifies water well from undissolved impurities and poorly from dissolved ones.

If HRMS were good at removing true solutions from water, then it could not be used to purify drinking water: the result would be a distillate. The bottom line is that natural salts and microelements are preserved in water that has passed HRMS filtration!

White sorbent Extra

Sorbents for cleansing the body. Indications for use: food poisoning; allergies and dermatitis; weight loss diets; violation of gastrointestinal motility.

Microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) helps to prevent many diseases due to both mechanical cleansing of the intestines and general cleansing of the body, because its sorption properties are significantly increased due to special processing. Often people talk about the MCC as a means of achieving longevity, and for good reason.

According to its composition, it is specially crushed and thoroughly cleaned cotton fiber. Due to grinding, upon contact with the liquid medium of the stomach, the MCC swells greatly, its surface increases significantly, which means that in order to achieve the effect, it needs to be eaten relatively little, much less than, say, bran.

In the lumen of the gastrointestinal tract, the dietary supplement "White Sorbent Extra" binds and removes from the body endogenous and exogenous toxic substances of various nature, including pathogenic bacteria and bacterial toxins, antigens, allergens, drugs and poisons, salts of heavy metals, radionuclides.

Sorbents for cleansing the body. MCC is used both for general recovery and for poisoning, including poisoning with salts of heavy metals, radionuclides, biological toxins, as well as for dysbacteriosis.

The predominant elimination of toxins with the preservation of the normal components of the flora and useful substances is associated with an overabundance of their pathogenic structures in the intestine and their poor fixation to the mucous membrane.

In addition to the fact that MCC cleanses the intestines mechanically, it is able to bind allergens and cholesterol and is successfully used to prevent diseases, and quite serious ones, such as diabetes, coronary heart disease and urolithiasis.

The normal microflora is rather tightly fixed between the intestinal villi and therefore is not actively excreted. Parietal digestion is not disturbed, since the suspension of the drug is freely excreted from the body and does not linger anywhere, including between the villi, without damaging the mucous membrane of the digestive tract.

Scientists consider cleansing the body of harmful substances one of the main processes for maintaining health. To date, enterosorbents have a huge list of drugs that differ in price, composition and properties.

Enterosorbents are medications, different in composition and properties, which bind toxic (harmful, toxic) substances in the gastrointestinal system, due to the property of adsorption (absorption, absorption and retention of toxic substances).

The main feature of this series of drugs is that the process of binding harmful substances takes place without chemical reactions and does not affect blood biochemistry.

At the heart of adsorption is the process of natural absorption of fluid from vessels into the intestine with the help of villi. Poisonous substances that have entered the blood, upon contact with the enterosorbent, are absorbed into it and excreted from the body.

The effectiveness of enterosorbents in the treatment of endotoxicosis (poisoning) has been proven due to the ability of intestinal villi to conduct all elements of medium molecular weight, which include toxic formations.

Indications for use

Indications for the use of enterosorbents come from their basic principles of action:

Additionally, enterosorbents are used as a means of:

  • for structuring the contents of the intestine;
  • providing a bactericidal effect;
  • elimination of a favorable atmosphere in the intestine for the reproduction of pathogenic microorganisms;
  • creation of an enveloping and cytoprotective effect;
  • to bind microbes and viruses;
  • to improve the absorption of food.

Types of enterosorbents

In the form of release, enterosorbents differ:

By chemical composition enterosorbents are classified:

  • carbon (with activated carbon);
  • silicon-containing (with colloidal silicon dioxide);
  • natural organic or food (with povidone, pectin, palygorskite, kaolin);
  • combined.

Impact on the body

Enterosorbents (a list of drugs, prices and composition will be discussed below) have three general characteristics that affect their recommendations for use and effectiveness.

They are the following:

  • Sorption properties - the amount of harmful elements that a drug can bind per unit weight.
  • The ability to absorb molecules (cells) of various weights and sizes, which is more important for enterosorbents than 1 point.
  • The area on which the enterosorbent is active, in relation to the unit weight of the drug (sq. m / g).

Other properties of this group of drugs are characterized by the presence of additional effects.

These include:

  • degree of toxicity;
  • the degree of negative mechanical action on the mucous membranes and other tissues;
  • biological compatibility.

These characteristics depend on manufacturers who endow their products with various additional properties:

  • immunomodulatory;
  • antioxidant;
  • membrane stabilizing and adaptogenic.

How to use enterosorbents

Enterosorbents are indicated for use in the presence of symptoms of damage to the gastrointestinal system:

The method of application depends on the following factors:

  • Dosage form of release. Tablets are taken orally without chewing, washing down with liquid. Powders and granules are diluted in liquid and consumed immediately after preparation. Pastes and gels are dissolved in liquid.
  • The frequency of administration depends on the form of release of the drug and its manufacturer.
  • The dosage is also determined by the manufacturer. It is most often calculated based on the body weight of the patient.
  • Duration of admission depends on the manifestations of the disease or the expected effect.

Carbon enterosorbents

Carbon enterosorbents are produced on the basis of activated carbon, as well as carbon-containing fibers and granules. Charcoal-based preparations absorb gases, toxic elements, metal salts, medicinal substances that are not broken down in the body. Sorption characteristics of carbon substances are not high, not selective.

The disadvantage of this series is the high probability of injury to the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal system.

The list of carbon preparations includes:

Silicon-containing enterosorbents

Adsorbents containing silicon include substances of natural and artificial origin. Such drugs have high sorption characteristics, a large absorption area. Natural remedies, in addition to adsorbing characteristics, also have enveloping properties.

Representatives of this series are:

Among the artificial means can be noted:

  • Enterosgel;
  • Polysorb;
  • Enterodes;
  • Enterosorb.

Artificial enterosorbents have a high binding capacity, selective selective action, absorb and remove only medium molecular harmful elements.

Food enterosorbents

Food enterosorbents include natural organic substances containing fibers:

  • analginates;
  • pectins;
  • lignins;
  • chitins;
  • polysaccharides.

This series of drugs is not digested and absorbed by the digestive system (enzymes), but they are fermented by the intestinal microflora.

Dietary fibers are characterized by the ability to absorb, retain:

The series has excellent sorption characteristics, a large area of absorption in relation to the unit weight of the substance.

Some of the representatives are:

  • microcrystalline cellulose;
  • Multisorb;
  • Filtrum-STI;
  • Polyphepan;
  • Zosterin Ultra.

This series includes sorbents made from resins of natural and synthetic origin, as well as polymers, lipids (not digestible by the body).

Separately, anion exchangers can be attributed here, elements that bind selective substances, which are characterized by the ability to:

  • lower the acidity of the stomach;
  • absorb pepsin and waste products of bacteria;
  • remove bile acids;
  • absorb micro elements.

These include the drug Cholesenol.

Combined enterosorbents

Combined enterosorbents contain more than two types of sorbents or contain excipients:

  • lactose;
  • vitamins;
  • probiotics;
  • stomach enzymes;
  • fructooligosaccharides.

Auxiliary components expand the range of therapeutic effects of the drug, can endow it with properties:

These funds include:

  • White coal;
  • Ultrasorb;
  • Eubicor;
  • Filtrum-STI;
  • Entegnin-N;
  • Rekitsen-RD.

Poisoning

Poisoning is characterized by an acute painful condition that occurs after pathogenic microorganisms enter the gastrointestinal system.

Symptoms of the disease are:

  • nausea;
  • vomit;
  • diarrhea;
  • general malaise;
  • cramping abdominal pain;
  • fever or chills;
  • headache.

First aid for poisoning is washing the stomach with boiled water, followed by inducing vomiting. The next stage is the reception of a universal sorbent. Since most often a person does not know the causative agent of the disease, it is therefore recommended, in case of poisoning, to choose drugs that absorb most of the toxic substances.

These drugs include:

Video about enterobrents

How enterosorbents work and a list of drugs:

Almost every person at least once in his life used sorbents, the list of preparations of which is extensive. Among the huge number of sorbent substances, a group is distinguished for internal use. In medicine, such substances are called enterosorbents.

There are names adsorbent or absorbent. These concepts are practically equivalent. The difference between these substances is only in the ability to absorb toxins: absorbents absorb with the whole mass, and adsorbents mainly with a solid surface or an outer layer of liquid.

When detoxifying the body, absorbents are preferable. The hard surface of the adsorbent tablet in some cases injures the surface of the gastric mucosa.

What about sorbents?

Enterosorbents - what is it and how to take them? Sorbents are produced in the form of tablets, powder, granules, pastes, capsules. What form of release to choose from the list of sorbents will be discussed later in the article.

Antisorbents must be used:

  1. After intestinal poisoning;
  2. Ingestion of heavy metals, poisons, alcohol toxins;
  3. With an overdose of drugs;
  4. With "breaking" after drug withdrawal;
  5. Allergic diseases;
  6. Alcohol poisoning;
  7. kidney failure;
  8. In case of poisoning due to the activity of helminths;
  9. Impaired liver function;
  10. Overeating.

Sorbents are used both as monopreparations and in combination with other drugs in complex therapy. Sorbents are also used as prophylaxis, for example, to prevent the development of cardiac ischemia.

The fact is that sorbents bind fats and do not allow them to enter the bloodstream from the intestines. A person who drinks sorbent preparations gets rid of excess fat without changing the diet and without starvation. Doctors use sorbents to treat cancer patients.

What about sorbents?

  • Silicon dioxide (TM Polysorb);
  • Activated carbon (Carbopekt, Sorbeks);
  • Dioctahedral smectite (, Endosorb, Neosmectin);
  • Polymethylsiloxane polyhydrate ();
  • Povidone (Povidone, Plasdon C 15);
  • Lignin hydrolysis (Filtrum);
  • Attapulgite (Neointestopan);
  • Natural sorbents: bran, rice water, apple pulp, freshly squeezed vegetable juices.

Sorbents are not used without a special purpose for more than 2 weeks, because these drugs remove not only toxic substances and fats, but also vital vitamins and nutrients. With prolonged use, constipation and vitamin deficiency may occur.

Almost all adsorbents and absorbents with prolonged use and overdose cause constipation, diarrhea, impaired absorption of nutrients, loss of vitamins.

In addition to medicines, dietary supplements are sometimes used, promising cleansing of toxins and fast weight loss. Dietary supplements are practically not studied by specialists and do not have proven effectiveness, unlike sorbents.

Lingosorb

With phenomena dysbacteriosis treated with prebiotics, for example, Sorbolong, Laktofiltrum, Laktobioenterosgel.

Lactofiltrum

Lactobioenterosgel

Pektovit

After eating a large meal sorbents with lingin are suitable ( Lingosorb and analogues), chitin ( Chitosan), pectin (Pektovit), cellulose, activated carbon.

The end products of metabolism and harmful substances that enter the human body accumulate in cells and tissues in the form of toxins. Them effective removal promote sorbents to cleanse the body.

Sorbents intended for oral administration in the form of tablets, powders, suspensions are called enterosorbents.

The mechanism of action of sorbent preparations

Specialists identify 4 groups of mechanisms that provide the sorbent function of pharmaceuticals.

  1. Absorption in the intestines of toxic substances, potential allergens, pathogenic microorganisms.
  2. Normalization of digestion by changing the concentration in the gastrointestinal tract of enzymes that contribute to the fight against harmful substances.
  3. Strengthening the excretion of toxic compounds from tissues into the intestinal cavity and internal organs followed by removal from the body.
  4. Stimulation of metabolism, contributing to the natural cleaning of internal organs.

In addition to the cleansing action, enterosorbents gently envelop the mucous membranes of the digestive tract, prevent their irritation and reverse absorption of toxic compounds.

The scope of sorbent agents is extensive and does not have strictly established indications. Most often they are prescribed in the following cases:

  • violations of the functions of the liver and kidneys, when the internal systems cease to cope with toxins on their own;
  • dysbiosis and shifts in metabolic processes;
  • all types of allergic reactions;
  • intoxication due to the intake of alcohol, drugs, narcotic or poisonous substances;
  • food poisoning;
  • infectious diseases of the digestive system;
  • bronchial asthma and atopic dermatitis.

Sorbents can be used to relieve withdrawal and hangover syndromes.

Sorbents for cleaning the body are distinguished by the method of absorption:

  • absorbents - react with toxic components, forming one compound;
  • adsorbents - attract toxins to their surface due to the large absorption area;
  • chemical agents - act through chemical interaction with pectins;
  • ion exchangers - work on the principle of substitution, replacing harmful ions with safe ones.

Sorbent preparations are classified according to the form of release - powder, tablets, granules, capsules, suspensions, suspensions, pastes.

By origin, they are divided into natural, synthetic and semi-synthetic. Means of synthetic origin have the greatest activity, but complex drugs have a wider range of action.

The most popular sorbents

Medicinal adsorbents, drugs and their names are indicated by the doctor after collecting a thorough patient history and performing diagnostic procedures. At home, the funds can only be used as ambulance. Each of the drugs has its own spectrum of action and effectively copes with a specific medical problem.

At the stage of using sorbents, it is necessary to prevent constipation, otherwise toxic substances can be reabsorbed in the intestine.

Activated carbon

Substance-adsorbent of animal or vegetable origin, previously purified from impurities. Coal is able to absorb alkaloids, sulfonamides, hydrocyanic acid, natural and chemical toxins, salts of heavy metals, sleeping pills, acids and alkalis.

The drug is effective for dyspeptic disorders, salmonellosis, dysentery, hepatitis, asthma, chronic cholecystitis and cirrhosis of the liver. It is used during preparation for endoscopic diagnostics - it is able to effectively remove accumulations of gases.

Produced in the form of tablets, granules, powder and paste. To enhance the sorption properties of activated carbon tablets, it is recommended to grind.

Activated charcoal can stain feces black - this phenomenon should not frighten the patient.

Activated carbon

Smecta

A preparation of natural origin with absorbent and antidiarrheal properties. The main active ingredient is dioctahedral smectite, supplemented with auxiliary components - sweeteners and flavors.

Smecta is available in a grayish-yellow powder. Before use, the powder should be diluted in half a glass of water and mixed vigorously until a suspension is formed.

Indications for the use of Smecta are intestinal disorders in the form of chronic, acute or infectious diarrhea, dyspeptic syndrome, accompanied by bloating, heartburn, heaviness.

Polysorb

Polysorb is an antitoxic drug, which is a colloidal silicon dioxide. Dry powder of white color is packaged in disposable sealed bags and jars, diluted immediately before taking it with clean non-carbonated water.

Polysorb is prescribed for poisoning with any kind of poisons, alcohol and any food, acute infections and other diseases accompanied by diarrhea. It shows good results in the treatment of allergic reactions, dysbacteriosis, kidney and liver failure.

Polysorb can be prescribed to children - the dosage is calculated according to the weight of the child.

Polysorb

Polyphepan

The active substance of the enterosorbent drug is lignin, which is obtained by hydrolysis of coniferous wood.

This sorbent effectively cleanses the intestines and neutralizes almost all toxic substances that enter the digestive tract. It reduces the level of cholesterol, bilirubin and urea, removes ammonia, radioactive isotopes and allergens. It has a positive effect on the intestinal microflora, strengthens the immune system at the cellular level.

Polyphepan can be taken as tablets, granules and powder one hour before meals. Studies have shown that the drug based on lignin is 5-10 times more effective than activated charcoal against pathogenic bacteria.

Polyphepan

Enterosorbent gel or pasty structure in the form of a molecular sponge. It actively absorbs poisons and antigens, neutralizing their toxic effects on the human body. It contains polymethylsiloxane polyhydrate and purified water as an excipient.

The drug removes excess cholesterol and bilirubin from the blood, helps with drug and food poisoning, intestinal infections, improves the functioning of the digestive organs, kidneys and liver, and stabilizes immune responses.

Enterosgel can be used by workers in hazardous industries and residents of regions with an unfavorable environmental situationin order to prevent poisoning by harmful substances.

Filtrum

Filtrum is a drug of natural origin that effectively eliminates constipation and dysbacteriosis, normalizes the functioning of the intestines and stomach. In its composition there is a proven sorbent hydrolytic lignin, which is converted by pressing into tablets convenient for use - Filtrum STI. The same drug, produced in the form of lozenges, is called Filtrum-Safari, it is used in pediatric practice.

A medication is prescribed for the treatment of poisoning with a dysentery bacillus, salmonella, drugs, alcohol. He successfully fights the consequences of purulent-inflammatory diseases of a viral and bacterial nature.

Filtrum

Lactofiltrum

Laktofiltrum is a combined pharmaceutical product that combines the properties of a prebiotic and a sorbent. Sorbent substances bind poisons and toxins on their surface, and the prebiotic lactulose promotes the growth of healthy microflora in the intestine. The double action of the drug helps to strengthen the immune system, cleanse tissues and cells, eliminate signs of allergies and dysbacteriosis.

Release form - dark brown tablets. Suitable for the treatment of adults and children.

Lactofiltrum

Other drugs

Other sorbents are also on sale - the list of modern drugs can be supplemented with such means:

  • Karbolen, Sorbeks - made on the basis of activated carbon;
  • Neosmectin, Diosmectite - analogues of the drug Smecta;
  • Atoxil - contains silicon salts;
  • White coal - bioadditive based on silicon and microcrystalline cellulose;
  • Polyfan is a natural enterosorbent containing lignin;
  • Chitosan - obtained from chitin, which acts as a natural magnet for excess fats, salts and toxins;
  • Pektovit - the composition includes pectin, lactose and fructose, which have detoxifying properties.

The best sorbents for children

Children's sorbent substances are used at the first signs of poisoning, infectious diseases, to combat the signs of allergies and diathesis. Some sorbents for children are available in the form of sweet lozenges and suspensions that make taking the medicine pleasant (Filtrum-Safari, Smecta).

Safe for young patients are such drugs:

  • Sorbovit-K;
  • Lactofiltrum;
  • Polysorb MP.

These drugs can be prescribed to children of any age, they are practically not absorbed in the digestive tract and do not have a general effect on the body.

If there are no modern sorbent preparations at hand, crushed activated charcoal diluted with water is suitable as a first aid for a child.

Contraindications for use and possible side effects

The action of all sorbents is aimed at alleviating the patient's condition, but experts do not recommend abusing them and self-medicating.

Sorbents for cleaning the body can not be used when:

  • hypersensitivity to the ingredients that make up the drug;
  • peptic ulcer of the intestine and stomach;
  • bleeding of the digestive tract;
  • intestinal obstruction;
  • tendency to constipation and reduced intestinal motility;
  • erosive gastritis.

With prolonged use, sorbent drugs can cause constipation, dyspeptic disorders, worsen the absorption of nutrients and accelerate the excretion of vitamins.

In order for the enterosorbent to act as efficiently as possible, it is necessary to follow the rules of admission:

  • the calculation of the drug is carried out in accordance with the patient's body weight - 0.2-1 g per 1 kg of weight;
  • the daily dose recommended by the doctor is divided into 3-4 times;
  • the drug is washed down with plenty of water;
  • in case of allergies, sorbents are combined with vitamin complexes, after a week, the consumption of sorbents is gradually reduced until it is completely canceled;
  • other medicines are taken two hours after the use of sorbents;
  • to reduce the absorption of alcohol, the detox drug is taken 25 minutes before the feast;
  • for prophylactic purposes, the intake of absorbent and adsorbent agents lasts from one week to ten days.

In general, the duration of detox therapy is determined individually, in accordance with the pathogenesis of the disease and the presence of concomitant disorders.

Conclusion

A wide range of modern sorbent preparations allows you to successfully deal with various pathologies, strengthen the body's defenses and improve the well-being of allergy sufferers. But any disease requires a professional integrated approach, so enterosorbents alone cannot be dispensed with without visiting a doctor in most cases.

A sorbent is a substance that has the ability to bind chemical compounds, vapors, gases and other elements. In medicine, they are used to cleanse the body of poisons, toxins and toxins. In addition, modern sorbents are effective in poisoning with heavy metals, nitrates, pesticides and radionuclides.

They act as follows:

  • bind foreign agents and neutralize their harmful effects;
  • accelerate the movement of poisons to the nearest exit;
  • promote the processing of undigested food residues;
  • fixed and transferred physiologically active substances- cholesterol, bile acids, enzymes;
  • facilitate the work of the liver - the body's natural filter;
  • help the process of natural self-cleaning;
  • improve the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract.

To prove the effectiveness of sorbents, the French scientist Bertrand in 1830 publicly accepted a teaspoon of arsenic mixed with coal. Thus, he convinced the public of the ability of sorbents to neutralize the effects of poisons.

Substances with sorbing properties are popular not only in medicine - they are used for disinfection and water purification, in the chemical and gas industries, as well as in Unisorb thermal power engineering.

Types of sorbents

According to the principle of absorption of foreign substances, the following main groups are distinguished:

  • absorbents that form a single solution or solid mixture with foreign agents;
  • adsorbents that bind other elements with their own surface;
  • ion exchangers.

In medicine, several types of sorbents are used:

  • enterosorbents - substances taken orally, appropriate for the treatment of intestinal pathologies, elimination of symptoms of intoxication and complex cleansing of the body;
  • means for external use - ointments and creams that help with skin pathologies, ulcers, burns, diaper rash, fungal diseases;
  • solutions for intravenous administration- purify blood and plasma (hemosorbents and plasma sorbents).

Classification by chemical composition defines the following types of sorbents:

  • carbon - from activated or granulated carbons;
  • based on clay materials - zeolites and aluminosilicates;
  • silicon-containing;
  • from vegetable dietary fibers with or without additional processing;
  • ion-exchange - are created from natural or synthetic resins.

Sorbent preparations are available in several dosage forms:

  • tablets;
  • dragee;
  • granules;
  • powders;
  • gels;
  • pastes.

The form of the drug is chosen taking into account the desired effect:

  • powders are able to interact with toxins that are not only in the intestines, but even in the patient's stomach;
  • gels and pastes do not require preliminary dilution, but do not tolerate negative temperatures;
  • granules and powders must be washed down or diluted with water;
  • tablets are convenient and practical, but last longer;
  • dragees are not suitable for all patients due to the presence of additives in the composition.

Sorbents for cleansing the body with allergies

Due to the ability of sorbents to purify the blood, they are successfully used for various types of allergies:

  • urticaria;
  • atopic dermatitis;
  • angioedema;
  • bronchial asthma;
  • food or drug allergies;
  • reactions to pollen;
  • insect bites.

The drug is prescribed when the first symptoms appear; duration of admission - 1-2 weeks. It is used in combination with antihistamines.

For acute allergic reactions- severe reddening of the skin, peeling and irrepressible itching, it is permissible to use a loading dose of medicines (about 2 g / kg of body weight). Such treatment should last no more than 2-3 days.

For the prevention of allergies in people with a predisposition to them, a course is carried out: they take 0.2-0.5 g / kg of body weight for one week of the month, then they make a 3-week pause, and so 3 months after the exacerbation. After taking a break, you can resume the course four times a year.

Enterosorbents for cleansing the body of alcohol

To reduce the toxic effects of future libations, enterosorbents are taken 10-15 minutes before the start of the feast. The next dose should be drunk after the end of the event, and another one in the morning, to eliminate the hangover.

Enterosorbents are also used in acute alcohol poisoning. In this case, preparations with lignin in the composition are recommended. After gastric lavage, a single dose is drunk in accordance with the instructions, and after another 5-7 hours, the reception is repeated.

Many alcoholic beverages have diuretic properties. Therefore, with a severe hangover, as well as to prevent dehydration, it is useful to drink a solution of rehydron (10 ml per 1 kg of body weight). In the absence of it, you can replace it with homemade glucose-salt solution or brine.

Natural sorbents for cleansing the body

Some natural substances have sorbent abilities. This tendency is most pronounced in pectins - fibers that swell when they enter the intestines. Thus, excess moisture is removed along with toxins, as well as excess cholesterol, mercury and lead.

Natural sorbents are obtained by extraction from citrus fruits, apples and seaweed. They are processed and produced in the form of dietary supplements (food additives).

One of the most well-known such sorbents is Akvion, an apple pectin preparation produced in liquid form. It removes toxins and residual decay products of drugs from the body, and also normalizes the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract due to the presence of the prebiotic inulin in the composition.

To carry out a preventive cleansing of the body, you can include in your diet foods that are high in pectins:

  • pears;
  • plums;
  • grape;
  • strawberries;
  • raspberries;
  • cabbage;
  • beets;
  • carrot;
  • buckwheat;
  • oatmeal.

In addition to pectins, the following natural sorbents are useful for cleansing the body:

  1. chitin is a substance found in the exoskeleton of arthropods and invertebrates. Based on it, the amino sugar chitosan is created, which has a unique molecular structure. Chitosan binds hydrogen ions, acquiring a positive ionic charge, and also has chelating properties. This is a universal sorbent that improves intestinal motility, increases the volume of feces and neutralizes excess hydrochloric acid in the stomach. According to some reports, chitosan also helps with hypertension, removing the negative effects of NaCl;
  2. fiber - a shell of plant cells, coarse dietary fiber that can bind toxins and toxins in the intestines. It is found in some foods (whole grains, vegetable and fruit peels, legume husks). For prevention, it is recommended to consume about 35 grams daily;
  3. cellulose is a type of fiber found in large quantities in bran, Brussels sprouts, whole wheat flour, apples, and cucumber peels. Can be used as a biologically active food supplement.

It is necessary to gradually adjust the diet by introducing new products with cleansing properties into it. Maximum amount useful ingredients, natural sorbents, is preserved in raw vegetables and fruits, as well as whole grains of cereals.

Sorbents for children

Sorbent preparations for children are used for food poisoning, but only after prior consultation with the attending pediatrician. Up to a year, funds are used:

  • Polysorb MP;
  • Filtrum;
  • Smekta.

Older children are allowed:

  • Atoxil (from the age of one);
  • Enterosgel, Sorbolong (from 3 years old);
  • Sorbex, activated carbon, Karbolen, Karbolong (from 7 years old);
  • white coal (from 14 years old).

The danger of self-use is the sensitivity of the children's gastrointestinal tract and the possibility of injury to the mucous membranes. When choosing a specific medicine, preference is given to products based on natural ingredients.

Sorbents in tablets

The most available tableted sorbents:

Activated carbon. It is created on the basis of wood or coal coke, which has undergone additional processing. The drug is characterized by a low sorption capacity - 5 mg/g. For prevention, activated charcoal is taken 1-2 tablets a week in the morning with a glass of water. In acute intoxication, the dosage is 1 tablet per 1 kg of body weight (the daily volume is divided into several doses). The tool has a low selective ability, absorbing not only harmful, but also useful substances. At long-term use side effects appear:

  • nausea;
  • heartburn;
  • flatulence;
  • pain in the abdomen.

Activated charcoal acts within 30 minutes after ingestion; maximum efficiency occurs after 5-6 hours. In addition to enterosorbing properties, it reduces intoxication of the body and eliminates diarrhea.

It is currently used mainly due to its wide distribution (it is sold literally in every pharmacy) and affordability.

Filtrum i Laktofiltrum. They contain lignin and lactulose and are suitable for the treatment of long-term intoxications. The drugs remove the decay products of alcohol and drugs, ammonia, metal salts and radionuclides, and also normalize the composition of the intestinal microflora, creating favorable conditions for the growth of beneficial bacteria. They are taken as follows:

  • children from 3 to 7 years - 1 tablet;
  • adolescents under 12 years old - 1-2 tablets;
  • adults - 3 tablets three times a day.

If the condition is acute, continue taking it for 5 days; for chronic diseases, follow the recommendations for 2-3 weeks.

White charcoal is a product based on silicon dioxide and sucrose. Not suitable for people with diabetes. Otherwise, it has many positive properties:

  • high sorption capacity (2 tablets per day are enough);
  • elimination of dysbacteriosis and flatulence;
  • elimination of toxins formed as a result of chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and malnutrition;
  • improvement of peristalsis;
  • efficacy in intestinal infections, allergies and acute poisoning.

Bionorm - tablets containing prebiotic lactulose, lignin and cellulose. It is not an officially recognized drug, it is classified as a dietary supplement. It is prescribed 2-3 tablets three times a day; duration of admission - 14 days.

Sorbents in capsules

Names of sorbents for cleansing the body in capsules:

  1. Sorbex. It is created on the basis of activated carbon obtained from coconut shells. The substance does not undergo chemical changes, but has an increased sorption capacity and has a longer effect (1.5–2 days).
  2. Sorbolong - a mixture of inulin with Enterosgel, is used in severe acute conditions (overdose medicines, alcohol intoxication, disorders of the gastrointestinal tract), as well as planned cleansing. You need to adhere to this dosage:
  • children from 3 to 5 years - 5 grams;
  • from 5 to 14 years - 10 grams;
  • adults - 15 grams, three times a day.

Effective sorbent for complex body cleansing

Preparations used to cleanse the body should be evaluated according to the following criteria:

  • the level of sorption capacity, the amount of foreign agents that are able to bind 1 g of sorbent;
  • toxicity - a negative effect on the body, provoking side effects;
  • selectivity of action - the lack of a tendency to remove useful substances from the body - vitamins, enzymes, micro- and macroelements;
  • universality - the ability to bind molecules of different sizes and masses;
  • the speed and duration of exposure after taking the drug;
  • ease of storage and use dosage form drug;
  • the presence of additional properties - for example, a calming effect on the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract.

Rules for the use of sorbents for cleansing the body

When using drugs, follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer. Generally general rules sorbent applications are as follows:

  • the daily dosage is calculated taking into account the patient's body weight, and is taken in several stages;
